Objective: To be able to apply the requirements of the relevant industry standards to the mechanical design of pressure vessels, heat exchanger, and above ground atmospheric storage. To specify appropriate physical property models to simulate processes. To simulate system involving solid & electrolytes and effectively communicate simulation results.

Course Outlines: Process Simulation & design course is unique in that it discusses all these items in a single course. It begins by discussing the fundamentals of materials selection for process plant applications/simulation & mechanical design of equipments.

The course emphasis is on developing a practical understanding of the mechanical design & sizing of fixed equipment, calculation, development of PED & P&ID, HAZOP studies, simulation of various unit operation, simulation studies, vendors of simulation like ASPEN, PRO II, CHEMCAD, CHEMSHARE. Mechanical design of process equipments, Basics & guidelines for preparation of fabrication drawings & Bill of Material, Quality control & Stagewise inspection and testing, Welding procedures, Guidelines for installation and transportation of the equipments.
